Think sunset yachts, matching shades of red, and a pasta spread to die for — this Airlie Beach hens weekend was one for the books.

How did you and your partner meet and what drew you to each other?
We met in London in 2016 - and not on an app, which feels very vintage, haha. I first spotted Chell at his housewarming party in South London, which I’d been invited to through my friend Sarah (one of my bridesmaids!). We weren’t formally introduced at the party, but I definitely noticed him. A few weeks later we were formally introduced - or I approached him (after a few drinks)… it’s one or the other, haha. Shortly after, we were kissing at the bar - and not long after that, the rest was history.
Tell us your engagement story — when did it happen and how did it all unfold?
Chell and I got engaged on a very inconspicuous, but very beautiful, winter afternoon in Burleigh Heads - and I had no idea it was coming. We were on our usual Friday sunset walk and the sky was stunning. Naturally, I was busy taking photos around the headland when Chell suddenly went quiet (which never happens, haha!). As we reached a little path leading down to Tallebudgera Beach, he insisted we go down. I raced ahead, camera in hand and when I heard him say my name, very nervously and emotionally, I turned to find him on one knee with the ring. We both cried and cuddled, then went home, popped a bottle of champagne, and called our families. The next day, we celebrated at Rick Shores - a booking he’d cleverly convinced me to make weeks earlier “for his post-marathon meal,” but really for our engagement.
Tell us everything about your hen’s celebration — from your bridal party and outfit to the theme, styling, activities and other special moments.
My hens weekend was held in Airlie Beach! I knew we were heading to Airlie, but the activities were a surprise and my bridesmaids absolutely nailed it. They kicked things off with a beautiful candlelit dinner on Friday night, complete with the most Pinterest-worthy styling. The consideration and effort that went into every personalised item and decoration was so special - all the girls wore shades of red, which was a nod to my wedding theme. One of my bridesmaids cooked an incredible pasta spread (my favourite meal) and after a few games and celebrating, we danced and partied the night away in Airlie Beach. The next day, we spent the afternoon on the most boujee yacht - think cocktail waiters, beach floaties and Bachie vibes. We wrapped up with sunset cocktails on the promenade before heading back to our Airbnb for a little more debauchery. My perfect hens - complete! Hot tip for brides-to-be: Revolve has the best bridal party outfits, which is where I sourced all my outfits from.
What’s been the most memorable or meaningful part of your bridal journey so far?
Oh, I’d have to say my hens party, for sure! It was just so much fun - hilariously girl-coded and very me-coded, haha. Although there have been so many other memorable moments too, like wedding dress shopping with my mum, asking my besties to be my bridesmaids and wedding planning date nights with my fiancé.
When’s the big day, and where are you saying “I do”? Any sneak peeks?
We’re getting married at Kwila Lodge in Mudgeeraba, Gold Coast, on October 17. The vibe is modern black-tie with moody pops of deep red, with an overarching theme of let’s party!
And of course, what’s your favourite mim piece?
The custom Mrs. necklace! It’s the perfect finishing touch for any hens day or bridal shower outfit and I love that it’s personalised. It’s a piece I’ll keep forever - plus, it’s perfect for your wedding recovery day too!
